YVRAF’s first-ever sweepstakes fundraiser! Donate and enter to help us finish 2024 strong!
Simply put, your donation to YVRAF creates opportunities for First Nations artists of BC and Yukon to realize their passion and to carry forward their cultural and ancestral traditions.
We have a goal of raising $10,000 by November 30!
By donating you are automatically entered to win an original poster of the 1996 installation of “The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe” at Vancouver International Airport signed by Bill Reid himself—valued at $500-$600!
What a wonderful gift to end the year: a donation to help ensure First Nations art and artists are supported and thriving in BC and Yukon and a chance to win a one-of-a-kind poster to treat yourself or someone you care about this holiday season!
Award recipients tell us about the life-changing impact of receiving a YVRAF scholarship or grant award including increased confidence, recognition, visibility, access, and the opportunity to network with peers and share knowledge. Learn from the artists themselves about the impact of your donation:
“It’s a surreal experience thinking that so many people will see my artwork. Receiving this scholarship award has changed by life. Getting to create a work of art that captures me, my community, my people, and the teachings around those has been an invaluable experience.”
—Randall Bear Barneston, Emerging Artist Scholarship
“It gave me goosebumps when I found out a piece on mine was going to be on display in the same airport as Bill Reid’s masterpiece, “Spirit of Haida Gwaii.” He was an inspiration from a young age. The people who came before me helped me realize what I want for myself.”
—Derek White, Mid-Career Artist Scholarship
More and more, the Foundation is becoming a critical resource for BC and Yukon First Nations artists to create, research, and share their material culture with their communities and the broader public through:
- Art scholarships for emerging and mid-career artists to develop or advance their professional practice
- Travel study grants for artists to study their ancestors’ art works in museum collections that date back hundreds of years
- Youth awards for aspiring young artists to empower and encourage them to explore their community’s material culture
- Display opportunities to show the artists’ work to the public
To continue making a difference in the lives and communities of First Nations artists through the work of the Foundation, we need your support by November 30, 2024.
We are deeply grateful to our founding donor, the Vancouver International Airport, for annual contributions towards our operating expenses and funding two scholarships each year. However, the many scholarships, travel study grants, awards and display opportunities the Foundation provides each year are simply not possible without the commitment of supporters like you.
By making a tax-deductible donation by November 30, you’ll be directly contributing to amplifying First Nations art and artists. Additionally, you’ll be recognized for your gift as a YVRAF supporter on our website and automatically entered in our first-ever year-end Sweepstakes! Donate today for a chance to win an originally signed poster by Bill Reid from the 1996 installation of “The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe” at Vancouver International Airport.
