YVR Art Foundation offers Aspiring Artist Awards to British Columbia and Yukon First Nations youth between the ages of 15 and 20 who reside in BC or the Yukon. Aspiring Artist Awards are $500 each and are awarded on an annual basis to youth to support their self-directed work in the visual arts.
Up to ten Aspiring Artist Awards will be awarded each year. Award recipients will be asked to complete a short questionnaire six months following receipt of their award.

To be eligible for a YVR Art Foundation Aspiring Artist Award, applicants must:
- Be of BC or Yukon First Nations ancestry
- Reside in BC or the Yukon
- Be between the ages of 15 and 20
- Provide up to five images of your artwork with your application

An Aspiring Artist Award can be awarded to an individual only once. Past YVR Art Foundation award, scholarship and grant recipients are not eligible for the Aspiring Artist Award.
Eligible Activities
This award is to support the recipient’s self-directed work in the visual arts.
Some examples include (but are not limited to) purchasing materials and/or supporting the production of artwork or expanding your skill-set by attending a workshop or other training.

When can I apply for this Award?
All award applications will be accepted on a rolling basis each year.
How many times can I receive the Aspiring Artist Award?
Aspiring artists are eligible to receive an Aspiring Artist Award only once.
Can I apply for an Aspiring Artist Award if I have received an Emerging Artist Scholarship (previously called Youth Art Scholarship)?
No. You can only be awarded an Aspiring Artist Award if this is the first grant, scholarship or award you would receive from the YVR Art Foundation.
What ages are eligible to apply for the Aspiring Artist Awards?
Applicants for the Aspiring Artist Awards must be between the ages of 15 and 20.
What should I include in my portfolio?
It is important that your portfolio shows your best work and that it reflects BC or Yukon First Nations culture. The work in your portfolio can be self-initiated or done in an art class.
