Note: applicants who have received YVR Art Foundation Scholarships e.g. the Emerging Artist Scholarship or the Mid-Career Artist Scholarship are eligible to apply for a Masterpiece Study Program grant, however they may not apply in the same year in which they have received an Emerging Artist Scholarship or Mid-Career Artist Scholarship.


Artists may receive a maximum of two Masterpiece Study Program Travel Grants.

Please indicate the timeframe in which you propose to travel between January 2020 to June 2020. We ask that you be as specific as possible.

Note: Masterpiece Study Program Travel Grant recipients will be funded for travel/research projects up to a maximum of 4 days (3 nights) for visits to museums in North America and 8 days (7 nights) International museum visits.

Project Travel Budget

Please describe the travel costs associated with your proposed project. Using the budget table below, list the estimated costs of transportation (flights, ferries etc.), hotel accommodation, daily meal allowance and any other travel expenses required for you to travel to and return from the museum you wish to visit. Portfolio

Please submit up to five high quality photographs of your artwork that best convey the work that you currently do.

Portfolio Guidelines

  • You may include up to five photographs of your art work. Make sure the names and numbers of the photos of your work match the names and numbers of those listed in the Portfolio Description box below.
  • If you submit work that was created with another artist, please name the other artist(s) and identify that the work is a collaboration or that you were an assistant on the project.
  • The portfolio you submit will not be returned to you, so please do not include any original art work.

Film/video portfolio submissions: 

  • If you wish to include an example of your film or video work in your portfolio you may submit this through Dropbox or a similar file sharing medium. You must notify us that you will be submitting film/video and by which method by contacting the Program and Administrative Coordinator at, programs@yvraf.com in advance of your submission.
  • If you are submitting your film or video work for your entire portfolio your may submit no more than two videos at a maximum of five minutes each.
  • If you are submitting your film or video work as part of your portfolio, each video submitted is the equivalent of submitting two photographs. For example, if you submit two videos you may only include one additional photographs in your portfolio submission.

Digital portfolio submissions

  • Use .jpg or .tif file types.
  • Files must have a minimum 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
