Personal Information
Applicants for the YVR Art Foundation Aspiring Artist Award must be between 15 to 20 years of age (born between 2001 and 2006) in 2021.
(e.g. Sto:lo, Haida, Selkirk). Contact YVRAF for questions about eligibility.

Describe and/or list your education history, your previous experience making art and the type of artwork that you do. You may also include here any information regarding art related classes, mentorships, programs and/or workshops you have attended.

Your personal statement is an opportunity for you to introduce yourself and mention anything that is not covered in this application. You can also describe how receiving the award will help you explore and/or develop your artistic potential.

A. Support Letter

One support letter is required with this application.

Please submit a support letter from someone who can speak to your artistic potential. This could be a teacher, mentor or other individual.
The support letter must be signed and include the following information:

• The name of the applicant (you)
• The name, address, email address and phone number of the person writing the support letter
• How the person writing the support letter knows the applicant and for how long

B. Images of Artwork:

The images you provide can be of finished artworks or works in progress.
  • Include up to five photographs of your artwork.
  • You can include self-initiated work as well as work assigned in class.
  • If you submit work that was created with another artist, please name the other artist(s) and identify that the work is a collaboration or that you were an assistant on the project.

Film/video submissions:

  • If you wish to submit an example of your film or video work, we ask that you notify us of how you would like to send/upload the video files by contacting
  • If you are submitting your film or video work for your entire portfolio you may submit no more than two videos at a maximum of five minutes each.

Digital submissions:

  • Use .jpg or .tif file types.
  • Files must have a minimum 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
  • If you are submitting a movie or video file please contact us for format preferences.
