YVR Scholarships

YVRAF Scholarships are available to individuals who meet the following criteria:

• Are of BC First Nations ancestry
• Are between the ages of 16 and 25 (year of birth is between 1988 and 1997)
• Have the goal of becoming a professional artist
• Are emerging artists who can demonstrate potential in BC First Nations art
• Have been accepted to study with an elder, mentor or at a formal institution of learning
• Commit to attend the award ceremony on May 31^st, 2013 and the ceremony in recognition of the completed work, one year later, on May 30^th, 2014. The completed work must be delivered to YVR by May 1^st 2014.

Each year, the YVR Art Foundation appoints a jury, including BC First Nations artists, who will make recommendations of awards to the Board of the YVR Art Foundation.

Please note: This scholarship will be awarded to an individual a maximum of two times.

Amount

Each scholarship is worth $5,000. $1,000 of this award is held back until the recipient's final project is received in May of the following year. Recipients may forfeit this $1,000 if they fail to submit their final project on time.

Applications must be received by February 22, 2013. Any changes to the deadline will be posted on this site. Applicants will be notified in April and recipients will be formally announced in May.
